Three weeks of job searching
Wow! I hit 100 applications across three weeks. I only had one screening from Thermo Fischer and a lot of rejections. I know the job market is absolute crap right now, and without industry experience, I'm fighting an uphill battle. But hey what else to do but keep going?
I'm doing a method that combines shotgunning and extremely tailored roles. Different forms of resumes that I use for different titles. For jobs where I'm like "it pays", I tend to just send. For jobs which I'm like "this is what I want", I tailor the shit out of it. I'm not sure if this is the best strategy since it's been less than a month, but we'll see.
It is hard! Even a month in and I'm a bit wearied. But fellow academics transitioning into industry, it's a big world out there! I'm applying to things that I never heard of!
