Slow down!
Oof, my new postdoc kind of demands I research in a neck-breaking speed. New models. New codes. New systems. Doesn't matter, I gotta do it fast. I drafted a manuscript in 6 months. I'm regretting the decision. I realized that my model has a subtlety to it that doesn't make my proposed mechanism wrong, but... incomplete. It's something I only caught because I sat down on my couch and thought. Awkwardly sitting on my half-broken couch and waving my arms around like a goose. It's an extremely subtle mechanism that works in tandem with my proposed mechanism; I don't even think a reviewer would have caught it!
But I'm happy that I caught something like this before it's published.
Instability defines a postdoc appointment, we have to publish more, and we have to publish fast. I think this is my crucial lesson in slowing down.
